BAR BELLS

      A barbell is exercise equipment used in weight training, weightlifting. It consists of steel bar with barbell weights. The barbell weights are different in sizes and materials. Steel bar is 5 to 7 feet long. The central portion is one inch in diameter and it is fixed with a knurled crosshatch pattern to help lifters get a good grip.

      The weights are slide on to the outer portions of the barbell to obtain the desired weights and it is secured with collars to prevent them from sliding off during workouts. The weights are fixed and adjustable. Fixed weights are great for gyms and clubs because they cannot be adjusted.

Types of Barbells

Olympic plates

      It have a central hole that is two inches (5.08 cm) wide. The outer portions of Olympic barbells are also two inches wide.

Standard plates

      It have a central hole that is one inch (2.54 cm) wide. Standard barbells are one inch wide all the way along.
