Manual Collet Chucks

Atsworkholding present a large collection of unique and explicit products like standard Pull Back or Draw-in type chucks, Sjogren Speed Chuck, Pneumatic Cylinder, Manual Collet Chucks, I.D. Workholding Systems, indexers and grinders. The products are available in variety of medium and also in various designs.

A chuck is a particular type of clamp used to hold rotating tools or materials. ATS offers many types of perfect chucks. A collet refers to the sleeve with a cylindrical inside and conical outside. The collet has kerf cuts all along its length which allows expanding and contracting.

A threaded segment at the rear of the collet is used to pull it into a corresponding conical socket. As the collet is pulled into the socket, the collet will contract - riveting the contents of the inner cylinder. Collets are generally found on Milling machines, Lathes and precision grinders.

A three jaw chuck is a gyratory clamp which uses three interconnected dogs or 'jaws' to clasp on a tool or work piece. Three jaw chucks are self-centering and are apt to grip circular cross sections. Three jaw chucks can be found on lathes and indexing heads.

A four jaw chuck is analogous to a three jaw chuck, but with four dogs, each of which can be moved independently. This makes them perfect for gripping non-circular cross sections, but hard to centre exactly. Four jaw chucks are almost never used for tool holding. Four jaw chucks can be found on lathes and indexing heads.

A drill chuck is a three jaw chuck used to clutch drill bits or related tools. The image at right shows an assembled keyless chuck at the top. The tapering action of this chuck style is performed by twisting the body using firm hand pressure only. The lower images show the traditional keyed style of drill chuck with its key.

A few high precision chucks use ball thrust bearings to decrease friction in the closing mechanism and maximizing drilling torque. These chucks are sometimes referred to as "super chucks".

A true length chuck of Atsworkholding ensures accuracy, features adjustability and it is ideal for an application that requires part transfer. Our manual collect chucks are adaptable to all spindle configurations. All the products we offer are efficient and cost effective.
